I come from Africa in a country called Uganda which is located in the eastern part of Africa. Relocated to England in January 2023. Uganda is a tropical country so lots of different changes as regards to climate and food. Back in Uganda, I have a family of 3 children and a spouse. I enjoy talking to people, getting to know more about them, playing musical instruments. I do not know how to play yet but learning how to play the piano and guitar currently and perhaps will find a choir to join soon.
I grew up in a family of 6; mum, dad and three siblings.

My Work:
I study nematodes trying to understand their evolutionary trend and diversity

I am Research Assistant at the Wellcome Sanger Institute. My main work is wet lab. I culture different nematode strains in the lab. My work involves studying behaviour of different strains and testing their growth conditions.. These materials are used for DNA and RNA sequencing and attain data to assemble reference genomes. This helps to study their diversity and evolutionary trends.

My Typical Day:
I wake up and take breakfast. I get to work at 8:30am.My days are usually involved with meetings and experiments in the lab. I then have lunch with friends at 12:30 and get back to the lab. I usually leave work at 5pm. I also support my team with health and safety and sustainability.

I wake up pray and do some exercises. I get to work at about 8:30am. My work usually starts with catching up with my daily calendar to see what I have to do. I set up / follow up with my experiments in the lab. I usually have meeting within the day, have lunch. I usually catch up with friends during lunch. Get back to the lab and finish up work at around 5pm then sign out for home.

What I'd do with the prize money:
To do out reaches to schools in order to encourage students to be apart of STEM.

Our Lady of Good Counsel, Gayaza and attained Uganda Certificate of Education for my O’Levels (Senior 4). Helped me realise where my specifications where I enjoyed and performed well in Science subjects.
