I invest most of my available extra time in learning how to do things better, whether it’s managing my team or designing the next research project, or even just displaying data!

With my family and learning new things – reading about new stuff, watching videos showing new skills or by doing and trying.

I spend most of my time (around 50%) working on aspect of my research activities… that includes keeping up to date with the literature, supervising the research students and staff, working up ideas to new research grant proposals… sometimes even helping out in the lab. The other 50% is split between teaching and administrative activities.

I spend most of my time making sure the lab and all the people in it are all working correctly. So I help a lot of people out with their research by helping them run experiments or design experiments.

Hi, at this point in my career it would be people’s development. It does vary a bit from time to time but I’d say that is the focus.

In my work, it’s analysing data! Doing the experiments and being in the lab is just a portion of the time. Putting the results into understandable data takes the most time!

I spend a large portion of my time at work, when i’m not then i really enjoy being with my family and friends especially doing things with my son. Its very important to strike the right work/life balance and also to now and again take a bit of time for yourself and not feel guilty about it.

At work i invest most of my time in developing ways of doing things better. can i make something faster ? can i make something more accurate or more precise. can i look for an element that we thought we couldnt look for before. alot of my time is spent keeping the lab clean so that there is no comtamination between samples.

At home i am always investing my time in my sheep and ponies. how can i improve them genetically, so they fit the breed standards better. how can i have sheep that gain weight quicker. keep there condition in a harsh enviroment more. produce more milk. go lame less often.
