  Somewhere between 300 and 700! They are the cabbage of the animal kingdom!

  It depends on whether you are going by recognised Kennel Club breeds (and similar organisations) and whether you include crossbreeds like Cockerpoos or similar F1 crosses. There are large numbers of breeds that have actually gone extinct and don’t exist anymore.
