My job involves reviewing abnormal patient blood results and providing advice and comments on the likely reasons of these results. As well as this, a Clinical Scientist is also involved in the introduction of new blood tests into the laboratory and ensuring the quality of the results produced by the laboratory.

I studied for my GCSEs and A-levels at my secondary school in Tredegar.
I studied for my degree at The University of the West of England.

Qualifications:
At 16 I passed my GCSE’s.
At 18 I passed my A-levels in Biology, Chemistry, Computing and Geography.
At 22 I got my Degree in Biomedical Science.

Work History:
My first job was in Mcdonalds while I was studying for my A-levels, I left this job when I moved away to go to university. After University I got a volunteer job as a Trainee Biomedical Scientist at Swansea Bay University Health Board, as part of this I completed my registration portfolio with the Institute of Biomedical Science. On passing my registration portfolio and being able to apply for registration with the Health and Care Profession Council, I then moved to work as a qualified Biomedical Scientist in Aneurin Bevan University Health Board.
I worked as a Biomedical Scientist for 8 Years before getting a place on the Scientist Training Programme (STP)
