I’m originally from a small town in the North of Scotland (Nairn) and have slowly moved further south by first studying in Glasgow before moving to Chester for work.
I started my career in the Oil & Gas sector, but last year moved into nuclear energy.
In my free time, you will most likely find me at my computer playing with friends from around the world on various PC games, or sat around a table playing board games with local friends.
In the summer, I play in a local cricket team in a friendly Sunday league.

My Work:
I support nuclear fuel product manufacturing by providing technical input and problem solving skills to operational problems to keep the plant running.

I work in a team of engineers from different disciplines such as mechanical and electrical, to come up with solutions to problems found on plant like broken equipment or process upsets.
I also work to improve the efficiency of the plant to reduce energy requirements to help move towards a net zero environmental.
I’m also involved in several groups looking at improving business processes to enable teams to achieve more with less time consuming paperwork.

My Typical Day:
I wake up around 7am and get ready for work with my partner.
Head into the office for 7.45am, to attend the morning alignment meeting with operations and maintenance to agree on the days priorities.
Have lunch with friends around 12pm at the onsite canteen.
The rest of the day can be variable depending on the days objectives. I could spend time in meetings reviewing upcoming projects and work on my area. Or spend time on plant looking at the issues and assessing potential solutions. Or be in the office writing reports on research and calculations to support proposed changes to the plant.
Head home around 4pm.
