      The nucleus is the inside part of something. If your question was about the nucleus of a cell, it depends on what type of cell. All cells contains organelles (the cells “organs”) and a nucleus.

      In the nucleus you’ll find DNA, where the genes are stored – these have most of the information the cell needs to stay alive and reproduce, just like us!

      The cell will use this information stored in the nucleus and the organelles (found in the cytoplasm) to make proteins using the information in the DNA.

      The nucleus of a cell contains all your genetic material (this is DNA) and some proteins arranged into chromatin. The nucleus is surrounded by a membrane called the nuclear envelope which is made up of two layers – the inner and outer membranes.
