  I think when I first joined the Royal Air Force I felt quite proud. I had never imagined I’d be smart enough to be an engineer or work with aircraft, so being accepted in the RAF to learn to be an aircraft engineer on the same fighter jets that had inspired me as a child was pretty cool.
