Question: Do you prefer making materials for phones or for bodies?

John Grasmeder answered on 31 May 2024:
I like both bevause they are both based on the same material, a special type of plastic called PEEK. In phones, we make the PEEK into a very thin film – it is used in the speakers and microphone, it’s what makes a big sound from a small space possible. In medical implants, PEEK is injection moulded into parts for knee replacements, or machined from blocks into cages for spinal implants. It can also be 3D-printed to make plates to replace parts of people’s skulls.
