Hello there, some chemicals make me extra cautious for example Hydrofluoric acid which goes through your skin & dissolves your bones! But you always do a risk assessment & you take precautions to be safe,

Hi,
In a simple word, No. The labs and chemicals don’t scare me – however, I am aware of the risks so cautious and lead the teams to ensure they are safe.

No, but you have to be careful when handling chemicals and working in a lab. Practice also helps. Accidents and explosions happen when you get careless or overconfident or don’t prepare well for what you are doing. It is also important to learn from mistakes, and never make them again.

No, it is where I feel most at home! I love having to do experiments as part of my job. But you do need to be aware that some of the chemicals come with risks to your health and need to be handled properly wearing your safety equipment, or only used with a fume hood. It is important to pay attention to safety rules in the workplace just the same as it is in school. Handling them the right way, the safe way means you don’t have to be scared.
