About Me:
I am 50 years old and live in Glasgow. I’m originally from Donegal in Ireland and still spend a lot of my time there. I like to knit and listen to true crime podcasts (I am very basic).

I moved to Glasgow nine years ago, before that I lived in Dublin. It’s a great city to just walk around and the people are lovely.
-
My Work:
I am a researcher at the School of Health and Wellbeing at the University of Glasgow. I talk to people who are ill as well as their family members about their health and the care they receive for it. I also talk to doctors, nurses and other health professionals about how they look after people. Along with my colleagues, I use this information to figure out how healthcare can be improved.
-
My Typical Day:
One of the great things about my job is that as long as I have my laptop and an internet connection,I can work from anywhere, so my typical day is different depending on where I am. If I’m in Donegal I’ll start the day with a walk on the beach, before getting back to the house where I have a home office set up in my bedroom. If I’m in Glasgow, I’ll walk into the office, and make myself a cup of tea and chat to colleagues before settling down to a day’s work.

I spend time talking to people on video call about their experiences of being unwell and going to the doctor. I also spend some time writing up my notes about these interviews so that my colleagues can read them.
-
What I'd do with the prize money:
I’d spend it on paying for school groups to visit the Clarice Pears Building in the University of Glasgow where they could interact with the exhibits and meet some researchers.
