I was born and grew up in Croatia. When I finished secondary school, I moved to Glasgow, Scotland, to study physics. I have now been living in Scotland for seven years.
I love going outdoors and often go for a hike during the weekends. My eventual goal is to bag all of the munros. (Munro is a mountain in Scotland with a height over 3,000 feet – 914.4 m). In my second year of uni, I joined a karate club, and so far, I have gained a green belt. -

The goal of my PhD is to create antimicrobial film made from langoustine shells. Langoustine shells contain chitin, which is a polymer that can be converted to chitosan. Chitosan is a polymer that can be cast into films, which means we can make bioplastics from it. My job is to make chitosan packaging better – make it more waterproof and stronger.
Currently, I am studying chitosan using computational simulations. This way, we save a lot of money and lab time.

My Typical Day:
I wake up, have breakfast and coffee and head to uni. I work on simulations, attend meetings or tutor students on a typical day. I leave the office around 5 pm.

Work History:
My first job was in my second year of uni when I started working as a Resident Assistant for the Accommodation services. Later, I became a Senior Residence Assistant and ResLife Assistant, where I organised events for students living in halls. After I moved away from student halls, I worked as a receptionist (again for the university halls). I also work as a Student Ambassador and Academic tutor for undergraduate students.
