My favourite type of books are fantasy, because I enjoy escaping to another land. β¨οΈ
I love getting out in nature in my local area and spending time in my garden, growing veg and berries and watching the wildlife.π
I like experimenting in the kitchen with new recipes, I try to cook something new every week. It keeps life interesting! I enjoy any fun food experiences as well, recently me and my best friend participated in a chili tasting for charity. π₯£ππ
I also live with a chronic illness, which although can be tough, I have made many friends in the chronic illness community and want to be involved in more charity work in the future. This is also the reason why I work in the NHS to give back and help care for other patients. ππͺπ»

My Work:
I am a Biomedical Scientist working in the Immunology lab at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. Testing patient samples to help diagnosis and monitor diseases.
I have also worked with a STEM outreach organisation Techfest for 5 years, teaching science to kids.
-
My Typical Day:
There is never quite a typical day as a Biomedical Scientist, but it always starts the same. I get up and washed, dressed and have my breakfast (consisting of lots of fruit, toast, a bagel or oats). I pop on my head phones, get on a bus and head to the hospital to start at 8.15am. I get logged in, and begin to get up my analsyer for testing samples. Once set up and tested my quality controls I test patient samples. It’s important to keep my analsyer clean by carrying out maintenance at the start and end of my day. When the results are ready they are put on the patients records for Doctors and nurses to see. I help my coworkers in the lab where I can too. Once all that is done I head home about 4pm for some relaxation and food.

What I'd do with the prize money:
I would like to Donate the money to Techfest and maybe that could go towards the development of a new Biology workshop? π©πΌβπ¬π§ π₯Όπ«π§¬
