About Me:
I am from Lincoln, but I live in Birmingham right now.
I have just moved from a job in the lab to a business role.
I am married to a Czech guy and we really want a dog but we are renovating a old house we bought in our free time.
Other than that, I am trying aerial yoga and I like to do something creative at the weekends like pottery

My Work:
I have just left my job in the lab and now work in the business team. I work with customers to understand what chemical they might need to solve their problem. I then work with my old team in the lab to find a way to make the chemical – the solution to the customers problem and project manage the work until it is complete.
I get to travel a lot so I am excited!

My Typical Day:
I start work at 8.
I can choose what I do day-to-day. My boss lives in Canada.
In my typical day (though I am just learning what I need to do in my typical day) I meet with customers to talk about they projects, or answer new enquiries (customers contacting us for the first time). I also have meetings with the scientists in the lab to make sure their work is progressing. Other tasks include: writing science blogs to market our products, preparing presentation to speak at conferences or I might be travelling to conferences or to meet customers.
I have lunch 12:30 – 1 and leave work at 4.
I usually go to lunch with my colleagues and we definitely have a tea break in the morning for some cake!
I can work from home if I choose to as well

What I'd do with the prize money:
I would like to go back to my old schools and do a workshop there.
I never knew any scientists growing up (apart from my teachers) and I would like to hopefully inspire one person in my hometown to follow a STEMM career path

Education:
I went to a school called “The City of Lincoln Community College”, which has now changed its name to “The Priory City of Lincoln Academy”. I stayed there from year 7 to year 13.
I then went to Loughborough University. I wasn’t sure if I even wanted to go, but applied last minute. The first time I visited Loughborough was the day I moved into halls of residence. It was a risk, but it paid off as it was one of the best things I have ever done!
I stayed at Loughborough for 4 years. I did a BSc in Chemistry and took 1 year out to do a work experience year in industry. I didn’t know any scientists growing up so wanted to meet people in industry and see how it was.
Before I graduated, the university offered me the opportunity to study for a PhD. This is where you work in the university lab full-time for 3-4 years, write up your report at the end and receive a PhD at the end.

Work History:
The first job I had, I worked in Dorothy Perkins, starting at the age of 16. I worked Thursday nights and Sundays.
Then I went to Uni. I did a 1 year placement where they paid me around 16000. I worked 2 summer jobs (in the chemistry department) which also earned me around 2000 – 3000 for 2 – 3 months work.
Then I went into a PhD which is paid. I earned around 16000 per year for 3 years. I worked on the side – I worked on a reception and I did some student support roles.
I didn’t walk right into a job after graduating my PhD. I had to do a lot of different jobs to pay my rent and bills. I continued to work on reception, I did a data inputting job, I worked at a College and I worked in Science department at a school.
I then got my dream job at the company I work for now, as a Research Scientist in the lab.

Happy! I have never had a job title or specific career in mind. I have just followed what I enjoyed and always tried my best. Sometimes I have failed, but that's ok. I have learnt who I am and what is important to me. I think being happy in life is the most important thing.
Were you ever in trouble at school?
Not really. I was pretty good and enjoyed learning.
If you weren't doing this job, what would you choose instead?
Maybe a travel photographer
Who is your favourite singer or band?
Too much choice! I can't pick.
What's your favourite food?
Chocolate!
If you had 3 wishes for yourself what would they be? - be honest!
If they have to be for myself...
Tell us a joke.
