Fun-loving Australian guy living in the east of England. Been here over 4 years now and I’m loving every day of it. I like to chill and play video games, and when it’s warm* I like to get outside and cycle around
(*I learnt very early on that “warm” has a very different meaning in this country!)

I use liquid- and gas-chromatography techniques, mostly those coupled to mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS and GC-MS/MS), to undertake anti-doping analysis. I primarly work to support equine sports (horseracing), protecting the integrity of horseracing competitions and the wellfare of our equine athletes. I get to have a good mixture of research and development project work, as well as routine analysis of samples direct from world-class racing events from all over the world!

My Typical Day:
For me a typical day involves an early start followed by a short drive to work – I live in a rural area so traffic is almost never a problem! Once I get to work I get thrown into whatever is on the go – it changes everyday π There’s a good mix of routine sample analysis and research work. I get to turn our machines on and make sure they are ready to perform valuable science, and then use them to get as much data as we possibly can from our samples. After a very interesting day of science, I like to unwind by cooking a hearty dinner and watching movies and/or playing video games
