I have just finished 4 years of university in Plymouth (Devon). This is where I discovered my love for the sea!🌊 I have two university degrees now! Freezing cold swims and paddle-boarding whilst watching the sunset was my favourite activity. I moved to Cambridge last year for work, and I’m really missing being by the sea these days. I hope to move back one day 🌞.

No two days are the same for me at work. I spend a lot of my time looking at where different chemicals end up in the environment, as well as looking at the effects they have on water, soil, plants, animals and more!

My Typical Day:
My typical day starts off with lots of coffee! I’m lucky enough to work from home so I don’t have to commute. I spend my day talking to the people I work with, having discussions, writing reports. 👩🏼🔬Sometimes I also make posters and presentations! In the evenings, I like to get out and go for a walk, or cuddle up on the sofa and watch some tv 😁

No two days are the same for me work wise. I do a range of things from analyzing data (lots of numbers and big excel spreadsheets) to scanning through results in scientific literature (work other people have done previously) to writing reports and making posters for clients and events.

Work History:
My first job was as a sales assistant at John Lewis, working on the outdoor living and Christmas section. I then started working at a pub in the holidays when I was at university! After finishing my masters degree, I worked in a laboratory for a few months until I landed my dream role in the position I am in now!

Current Job:
I am currently working as an Environmental chemistry consultant / eco toxicologist. This mainly involves assessing where chemicals end up in the environment and what effects they may have on the environment (such as organisms in soils and water) and other animals like fish.
