About Me:

My name is Amber. I graduated with a masters degree in Physics with space science in summer 2023, and have a passion for space! I am now part of the Rolls-Royce engineering and technology graduate program.

I was educated in a public ‘requires improvement’ school, so I understand how hard it can be to progress into a STEM subject without the proper support. I am an advocate for women in STEM and would be happy to chat about my educational and career journey.

I enjoy climbing, tending to my weird house plants, and looking after my two cats ( a tabby and a black cat 🐈‍⬛).

My Work:

I work for Rolls-Royce as a engineering and technology graduate. I work on design, manufacturing and idea development.
My Typical Day:

I usually have meetings discussing engineering problems, which I work on to solve. My work is very varied, so sometimes I will be in the lab testing new ideas or writing up the next stages of a planned project. After work I like to go to the gym or chill out at home.
What I'd do with the prize money:

I’d go on an adventure holiday somewhere warm!

Education:

I went to Countesthorpe community college for my GCSEs and A-levels, then the university of Leicester for my masters degree.
Qualifications:

I have 11 GCSEs and 3 A-levels in maths, chemistry and physics.
Work History:

Throughout university I was a maths and science tutor teaching KS3 and GCSE.
Current Job:

I currently work on power systems for a variety of vehicles. It is an engineering role, so has been a practical transition from academia into industry.
Employer:

I currently work at Rolls Royce. It is a massive company working on plane engines and power systems.
