I am beyond thrilled to be announced as this term’s winner. I really didn’t expect to be selected. Funnily enough, I was outside sticking tracking equipment on beetles when the email came through and I wasn’t quite prepared for it!

Sam is a professional beast hunter! He looks for insects in woodlands which have been planted by humans to work out why they’re there, how they got there and if we can make it easier for them!

Ryan maintains and fixes fighter jets for the Royal Air Force. He’s responsible for the mechanical systems, including the engines, fuel systems, hydraulics, wheels, brakes, environmental control systems and flying controls to name a few.

Courtney works as a research scientist in reproductive health. Her aim is to help us understand more about pregnancy and to develop clinical tests that can help people have a healthy baby.

From 2024 we are no longer running zones. However our web platform needs us to create a sub-domain in which to run the activity. We discussed what sub-domain to use. 2024? Elements (again)? Scientist names?
In the end we decided to honour the people we value the most. Teachers.
