On a normal day, I go to work around 9am. I start the morning by checking emails, and planning experiments. Then I will either spend the day doing experiments or analysing data. Of course I take some time for lunch and to do the daily Wordle or crossword.
If I get everything done, I make time to do some science blogging!
I try to finish work about 4pm, so I can go to the gym or dance class.

I’m an early riser so I try to get in before 8am to get a headstart and a quiet coffee, then get my experiments started. A lot of my time is spent waiting for bacteria to grow so I do small jobs (cleaning/ordering/writing), analysing data or smaller experiments in between. I have lunch at 11 usually, never later than 2pm because doing experiments hangry is not fun. The afternoons are usually spent in meetings or finishing experiments and setting up for the next day. I usually finish by 5pm. I have my walk home to unwind and not do much work at home.
This is always the intention, but some days really don’t go to plan so when that happens it’s definitely a later finish rather than an earlier one!

I’m normally at my desk by 8.30 or 9am. Most days I go to the office, but some days I work at home. Most of my day is at my desk, reading reports, collecting information, using that information in a variety of ways, to answer questions. This might involve computer modelling, calculations, interpreting data, and writing to produce other reports. There are normally some meetings to go to as well, and some days I go out to schools to do science presentations.
