Let’s take the example of Jupiter as a model for a gas giant planet. What we see from the outside (including the Big Red Spot) is the outside of the gaseous atmosphere of Jupiter. As you go into that atomsphere, the pressure rises and the compressed gas becomes liquid… Go deeper it eventually will become solid. Some you might be able to land on it… otherwise you’ll have to hover.
Interesting some scientist believe that at the core of Jupiter the pressure is soe high that it will convert the main gas in the atmosphere, hydrogen, to a metallic form.

i think it would be more like flying through a thick cloud. it is possible as you get close to the centre that due to high pressure there is a metallic solid. but i dont think anyones tried to know for sure.
