Question: will AI get smarter over time?
- Keywords:
-
Neil Barnby answered on 3 Jul 2024:
It will certainly get better over time, but smarter is a difficult one. AI is not actually smart in the sense that it thinks and can reason a problem. AI works by prediction of the answers based on the patterns formed from past answers to similar problems. What AI does well is to search through vast amounts of data quickly to find the answers – it’s like you being able to read hundreds or thousands of text books in seconds to give the answer to an exam question rather than knowing it from memory or being able to deduce the answer.
