The best thing is to pause and re-organise. I usually find it is when I have too much on. So, I will stop and take some time to write down everything I need to do and then prioritise. this can take 5 – 0 minutes to do but can save more time than it takes and helps reduce the stress. It is also important to make sure after work you get away from any work related issues, turn off emails and take time for yourself.

This isn’t something that I’ve ever had to deal with, I don’t tend to get stressed at work and don’t believe a job is worth doing if it causes you illness so if it does and it is consistently you may be in the wrong job.
The best way to avoid stress is planning and preparation, as the saying goes, “Fail to prepare. Prepare to Fail!!” Make sure your timescales are realistic and that you can deliver what is being asked of you and never ever be afraid to speak up if you are struggling.

A bit of stress at work is normal. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, it can be good to take regular breaks to have a walk around and clear your head. It might be tempting to overwork and cram, but making sure you get enough rest and time away from work will help you think clearer and get things done faster. If you get organised, tackle the most important parts of your task first, and ask for help when you need it, you will get through it!

A bit of stress is good as it helps you focus. It sounds odd but when I feel overwhelmed I stop and spend time tiding my desk and do some filing. The 30 minutes doing this helps. When I want to totally relax I go for a walk or a swim. I also find that watching rugby and shouting for my team releases a lot of energy

I really enjoy watching rugby with my friends. Nothing like shouting your team on pitchside to get all those stresses from work out of your head. I also enjoy the calm of going swimming, that swimming pool smell always makes me feel better. The important thing is, if your usual way to de-stress isn’t enough and you are still feeling stressed or worried, talk to your manager of a work friend and share your fears.
