There are some viruses for which we have no cures and even well-known viruses like Smallpox and Rabies are difficult to cure (like Rabies) or we have lost our immunity to them (like Smallpox). Some of these are endemic to places in Central Africa. As this world warms there active range may expanded encroaching on the borders of Europe.
That is a really good question. It depends on whether you are talking about illnesses spread by viruses or bacteria (infections) or illnesses that cannot be shared with other people (non-communicable diseases). I also wonder what you mean by deadliest? Speed to death? Or number of people killed? In which case, both Martin and Martha are right!

To me, I think cancer as sometimes you cannot detect if you have it and some cancers are detected so late and spread so fast.
