I am so glad someone asked this! It is the process of examining big data to uncover information. These datasets have high volume and contain what is called big data. These data can come from different sources such as websites, mobiles, social media. In my job I use big data in health, collected from GPs and hospitals to answer important questions about health and disease.

Big data analytics is the process of examining large and complex sets of data to uncover patterns, trends, and useful information. Imagine you have a massive library of books, but instead of reading each one, you use a super-smart system to quickly scan through them and find interesting connections and facts.

In the real world, companies and organisations collect huge amounts of data from various sources, like social media, websites, and sensors. Big data analytics helps them make sense of all this information. For example, businesses can analyse customer data to find out what products are popular, or scientists can study climate data to predict weather patterns. It’s like finding a needle in a haystack but using powerful tools to do it efficiently and accurately.
