There are four states of matter… solid, liquid, gas, and plasma. The latter is the dominant form of matter in the Universe.

I was going to say four, but it seemed too simple and I thought there had been more identified. Bose-Einstein condensates and Fermionic condensates are the extras. Quickly looking at them they occur at absolute zero, which is another way of saying they don’t occur naturally… at least not with the universe as it is today.
