My pronouns are:
She/her
-
My Work:
I am a researcher in gambling addiction.

My Typical Day:
Every day looks different! I am part of a big project which is spread all around the UK, and my work is qualitative, meaning most of our data collection comes from speaking to people. I am in charge of running focus groups on people’s experiences with gambling every couple of weeks, and we also have in-person team meetings in different places, like London, Manchester, and Lincoln. When I’m not travelling, I mostly work from home on my computer. I analyse data, read and write papers, plan future research projects, and work on things like ethics applications (any research to do with humans has to go through an ethics approval process).
One of the great things about working in academia is being able to plan your own time. Some days I might start early and finish early – other days I start late and finish late, and then some days I start late and finish early if I’m particularly tired or have something else on.
-
What I'd do with the prize money:
I would organise in-person events and workshops for students – fun ways of teaching more about gambling and gaming addictions.
